How Pathology Screenings Are Done

Initial oral pathology examinations are simple procedures which include visual inspection within the mouth for any abnormalities previously listed. If we identify anything suspicious, a biopsy will be performed to conduct tests on. We commonly use a radiofrequency dental laser to take biopsies, reducing the need scalpels or bleeding. Performing biopsies when concerns are first detected leads to the best results in successful removal of cancers, tumors or cysts. At ArkLaTex Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery we strongly recommend patients receive regular pathology tests, even if your results come up negative as diseases can develop at any time.
